Horatio Luro was a Grand Senor, treated his horses with thought and good care. He had great ideas and waited til the horses 'peaked' then would run them in back to back races. It is hard to figure if we have horses like that now or if we have trainers/owners who will take that step. Are we ever going to have a Triple Crown winner again??? If so, did that trainer know Horatio Luro and did he read this book?? I will be asking that question for sure. It is a Grand book about a Grand Senor and if you can find it READ IT!

My mother-in-law told me that I absolutely have to have a set of these and she promptly bought me the ENTIRE set. They are mainly found in Canada, but I am thrilled to own a set. All of them are exceptional! Great recipes. Lots of easy one as well, if you are looking for that, too. Also, every few pages have some cute jokes. I highly recommend the series to everyone. I buy a set for wedding presents and the like. Well done!

This book really shows the majesty of the Grand Teton area. When I view the pictures in the book it takes me back to the week that we spent in this georgeous area of America. The book is a great souvenir of our trip. If you can't visit this area of the country then the book will give you a great idea of what it is really like.

This fine book caused me to revisit Alexander Kinglake's EOTHEN and realize how good it was, too. Ms. Withey's prose style is highly readable, making easy reading for such an immense subject. The bibliography is a research treasure on its own. The author works in gentle irony and wit in a way that does not interfere with her subject matter. She does not let drop such items as the search for the perfect way to Italy but, rather, consistently mines these deserving themes once they are introduced. I highly recommend this book

This book is a delightful combination of a finely drawn coloring book, a "How to" book (how to identify trees and figure out their height), and a charmingly-written reference for the backyard or holiday excursions. The theme of the book is: What are the different state trees, and where and how large is the largest specimen of each type. I learned a lot about trees by reading this book while the younger generation enjoyed coloring in the leaves and trunks.

the purpose of my e-mail is to ask the author if he is familiar with a Charles Hays, who was once the pres. of Grand Trunk R.R. He lost his life on the Titanic, along with his man servant. His wife and maid rescued, and were met in New York to board a special car on the Railroad,and later met by Henry Ford, personal friend of Hays, where he presented Mr. Hays a new Ford Auto. I find this interesting, as the Hays are distant relatives of mine,and would like to know more of the Hays family if possible.

This is the best Cook Book I've ever seen regarding Appetizers & Desserts. It's a "Must Have" for anyone who enjoys cooking &/or entertaining!!
